Perched on Malibu's bluff stands Cher's iconic home, a testament to her talents. I've had the privilege of aiding its recent transformations, creating a tranquil sanctuary filled with Asian art and bespoke furnishings. Yet, its legacy of elegance spans beyond my involvement.
After years of searching, Cher found the perfect spot in Malibu, purchased in 1998. It took nearly five years to craft her dream home, reflecting her unique tastes with elements inspired by Venetian palazzos, European villas, and Moorish design.
Skilled artisans adorned ceilings with Eastern motifs and crafted romantic Moroccan-style lighting. The bedroom's raw silk-clad walls bear traditional henna designs inspired by Cher's experiences in India. Moroccan Mashrabiya wood panels, hand-carved in Fez, encase a private sitting area cherished by Cher. Entertaining spaces are designed to highlight breathtaking views, with the living room seamlessly extending to the pool and beyond, evoking the sensation of floating on a turquoise sea in the family room.
Due to strict regulations in Malibu, building a similar house today would be challenging. After 20 years, Cher is ready to move on and share her beloved sanctuary with others.
